Authorizing a New Representative

The CRA has updated how we access new clients. All new clients must create an online CRA account first and then manually add us as a representative. We understand this may be a difficult process for some, but we are here to offer our assistance.

The CRA has provided two options for verifying your identity.
1) Immediate Access - Using a cell phone, submit a photo of yourself and your photo ID
2) Delayed Access- A security code will be mailed to you (for individuals who do not have cell phone access)

Before you begin the process for immediate access, please ensure you have:

~ Your last filed personal tax return (as you will be required to provide specific information referencing it)

~ A cell phone with a working camera

~ A piece of valid government issued photo ID (Passport, or Drivers License - cannot be expired)

Once you have created your login, you will need to choose 5 security questions and answers - Please print the confirmation page for future reference as these answers can be used to regain access to your CRA account in the event your access has been revoked.

Verifying your Identity:
~You will be prompted to take a picture of your photo ID (Front and back) – ensure sufficient lighting as they only allow 3 attempts
~You will then be prompted to take a “Selfie” – again, ensure adequate lighting

The two photos will be compared and you should be granted immediate access to your CRA online account.

Once you have obtained access, you can then go to your profile and add Melinda Daamen CPA Professional Corporation as a Representative.
